Haluan Kepri Cup (Game 2)

This morning, BJSS played their second pool match against the defending champion Bunga Nusa Mahakam (BNM). As many expected the boys had no chance against the professional outfit who had the services of two players from the Indonesian 2011 SEA Games team. Anyway the boys gave their best and lost with a score of 0 : 3 (16-25, 18-25 & 21-25). The delayed game on the previous night which finished at nearly midnight and the early match this morning obviously took their toll on the boys. However this is no excuse and the boys have to take note of their shortcomings especially their concentration towards the second half of each set where most of the points were lost. The ability to adjust their service with the different balls used during tournaments must also be tackled.

This result meant that BJSS did not qualify for the next round. Hopefully this experience will prepare the younger players for their next tournament which is the MAVA league. Coupled with the few senior players who were left behind, we hope to form a stronger team this year.

Haluan Kepri Cup (Game 1)

BJSS has been placed in Pool B together with Bunga Nusa Mahakam (Indonesia) and Paniaii Papua (PNG). The first game was against Papua and BJSS managed to win 3 : 0 (25-7, 25-7 & 25-8). The game which was supposed to start at 8.00 p.m. local time was delayed by almost 3 hours. By the time the game ended, it was almost midnight. After a late supper, the boys have to prepare for a tough match tomorrow morning at 9.30 a.m. against BNM which will decide the qualifier for the next round from this pool. Good luck!
