Champs BJSS Get Off to A Winning Start

PETALING JAYA: Defending champions Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) opened their 2012 Malaysian Volleyball League (MVL) campaign with a bang when they defeated Segamat VC 3-0 at the Stadium Tun Fatimah basketball hall in Malacca yesterday.
The sports school won 25-16, 25-18, 25-20.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) had to go the distance before prevailing 3-2 over Bomba Malaysia in another match. UKM won 25-12, 29-31, 25-23, 23-25, 16-14.
In another match, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) easily defeated Armed Forces 25-18, 25-22, 25-9.
In the women’s competition, Century Penang beat Selangor 25-22, 25-19, 20-24, 25-19 while City Ranger VC thumped E-Globex 25-19, 25-19, 25-18.
Eight men’s teams and six women’s teams are competing in the premier volleyball league competition, which offers a total cash incentives of RM150,000.
The MVL is held over three legs – Malacca (May 26-27), Kluang, Johor (June 2-3) and Kuala Selangor (June 9-10).
The semi-finals and finals are scheduled to be played at the MPSJ Stadium in Serdang on June 16-17.
